Getting Started

First-time Operation

■ About the battery for this computer

This computer uses 2 battery packs. Power is consumed only on either battery pack. Charging is made for the two

battery packs at the same time.

●

When the computer is connected to the Cradle (optional: CF-VEBH21U, CF-VEBH21KU), the battery pack is

charged when the AC adaptor is connected to the Cradle.

●

With the battery charger (optional: CF-VCBU11U) or the Cradle (optional: CF-VEBH21U, CF-VEBH21KU), you

can remove the empty battery pack from the computer and charge it while using the computer.

●

You can insert or remove the battery pack while the computer is ON. Be sure not to remove the battery pack

being used by mistake. (

Charge the battery earlier when the battery indicator lights in red.

■ Using the digitizer pen

You can use Windows by touching screen in the same way as the mouse. Touch

the screen surface with the digitizer pen (included).

To right-click

Touch and hold with the digitizer pen, or press and hold the right button, and then

touch the object.

CAUTION

●

Do not pull the tether with excessive force. The pen (included) may hit the computer, person’s body or other

objects when released.

■ Setting up the computer

1 Set your computer to the Cradle.

●

Set the computer to the cradle, and connect the external keyboard and mouse to the

cradle.

●

Connect the AC adaptor to the Cradle and a power outlet.

The battery charging starts automatically.

CAUTION

●

Do not remove the computer from the Cradle until the “First-time Operation” procedure is

completed.

●

When using the computer for the first time, do not connect any peripheral device except

the battery pack, Cradle, keyboard, mouse and AC adaptor.

●

Handling the AC adaptor

•

Problems such as sudden voltage drops may arise during periods of thunder and

lightning. Since this could adversely affect your computer, an uninterruptible power

source (UPS) is highly recommended unless running from the battery pack alone.

NOTE

●

After Windows setup, alternatively you can use without Cradle.

In that case, connect your computer to a power outlet.

The battery charging starts automatically.
